While prescription drugs have important medical purposes, some of them can be addictive in nature. Addictive prescription drugs can take different forms. Benzodiazepine and opioid painkillers, for example, both come with a high potential for physical dependence and addiction. Opioids like Fentanyl are involved in the majority of overdose deaths in the United States at this time. Anyone can experience prescription drug addiction, but you can overcome it. For many people, treatment makes recovery possible.

If you or your loved one is looking for a prescription drug rehab center in California, you’re in the right place. Omnia Recovery is a behavioral health clinic in Ventura County treating substance use, mental health, and dual diagnosis disorders. So, what should you know about getting treatment for prescription drug abuse?

Let’s talk about how our programs can help you or your loved one facing prescription drug abuse first. Then, we’ll discuss the signs and symptoms of prescription drug addiction and the effects of prescription drug abuse.

what we offer

Prescription Drug Rehab Programs and Services at Omnia Recovery

Omnia Recovery offers multiple levels of care for prescription drug addiction and related concerns. Before you start treatment at Omnia Recovery, we’ll give you an intake assessment and will help you choose the right starting level of care for your needs. Here are the main programs and services at Omnia Recovery and how they can help you or your loved one looking for a prescription drug rehab center. We can help you find a sober living placement if needed. Transportation services are available for clients who need help getting to and from treatment.

Partial hospitalization programs offer the most intensive outpatient care possible. They can be an ideal alternative to inpatient rehab for clients able to live at home or in sober living while in treatment. The partial hospitalization program (PHP) at Omnia Recovery involves a full daily schedule of groups, at least once-weekly individual therapy, regular outings, life skills, and other activities. Our programs use a combination of different treatment methods, such as:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
  • Outdoor adventure therapy
  • Family therapy and education
  • Beach group therapy
  • Medication management
  • Body movement
  • Sound bath
  • 12-step groups

The time commitment required to attend PHP is about the same as a traditional work or school schedule. Commonly, clients start at this level of care.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Omnia Recovery meets less often throughout the week than PHP and has a lower time commitment. Clients in IOP at Omnia Recovery attend groups several days a week, at least once weekly individual therapy, and other activities outlined in their treatment plan. Due to reduced treatment hours, IOP can be ideal for those who need to work or attend school while in treatment. Some clients start in IOP, whereas others transition into IOP after finishing PHP.

Getting off of prescription drugs can come with uncomfortable physical and mental withdrawal symptoms. We offer ambulatory (outpatient) detox services to help clients get off of prescription drugs and other substances safely and successfully with the help of medical staff. Outpatient detox is best for those with mild-to-moderate withdrawal symptoms. We can help you find inpatient detox nearby before starting one of our programs if you need it.

Alumni programs help former clients stay connected to the support system they build in treatment. Omnia recovery has an alumni program for those who have completed our programs, which offers regular meetings and other benefits. Before you graduate from treatment at Omnia Recovery, we’ll help you make an aftercare plan to support your continued recovery. Your aftercare plan will be specific to you but may involve continued therapy, support groups, job and education plans, or something else.

what to look for

Signs and Symptoms of Prescription Drug Addiction

Lying to other people about how much or how often you use prescription drugs is a very common sign of prescription drug addiction or abuse. Other common signs and symptoms of prescription drug addiction one may notice include but aren’t limited to the following.

  • Doctor shopping, forging prescriptions for, or otherwise illegally obtaining prescription drugs.
  • Needing to use higher amounts of a prescription drug than before to achieve the desired effects (increased tolerance).
  • Continuing to use prescription drugs despite problems in interpersonal relationships caused by drug use.
  • Continuing to use prescription drugs despite new or worsening mental health effects caused by drug use.
  • Continuing to use prescription drugs despite problems at work or school caused by drug use.
  • Trying to stop or decrease prescription drug use but being unable to do so.
  • Continuing to take prescription drugs to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
  • Decreased interest in activities you used to enjoy.
  • Changes in personality or mood.
  • Prescription drug cravings.

Some physical and mental health effects from prescription drugs can vary based on the class of drug. For example, benzodiazepines and opioid drugs can cause fatigue and drowsiness, but that may not be the case for other drugs.
